Sir Bradley Wiggins Wows at The Sporting Club Lunch

LONDON, July 9, 2025 — It was a day to remember at Quaglino’s in St James’s as Sir Bradley Wiggins finally took the stage at The Sporting Club—twelve months after his originally scheduled appearance—with a performance that proved well worth the wait.

Widely regarded as one of Britain’s greatest-ever athletes, Wiggins captivated a packed audience with insight, honesty, and humour as he reflected on his extraordinary career. From winning eight Olympic medals, including five golds, to making history as Britain’s first Tour de France winner, his story is nothing short of iconic.

But it wasn’t just about medals and milestones. Wiggins offered a refreshingly personal take on the pressures of elite sport, life in the spotlight, and the journey of rediscovering his passion after the podium. The result was a brilliant and engaging 75-minute interview—undoubtedly one of the most memorable in The Sporting Club’s calendar to date.

The afternoon also featured cameo appearances from fellow Olympic champion Dani Rowe (née King) and the incredibly inspiring David Smith, whose resilience and humour left a lasting impression on everyone in the room. Guests also enjoyed the company of double Olympic champion Stephen Burke, Irish road racing star Nico Roche, and former England and Lions rugby international Matt Perry.
