Our first “Botham’s Ashes” 40th Anniversary Dinner took place at Edgbaston, Birmingham, last Thursday and proved to be a resounding success. Lord Ian Botham was the star of the night aided and abetted by host David Gower, plus other members of the famous 1981 England team including Sir Geoffrey Boycott, Graham Gooch, Mike Gatting, Bob Taylor, Chris Old, John Emburey and Peter Willey.
Geoff Miller conducted the auction on behalf of Beefy’s Charity Foundation as we watched footage of the epic 1981 Edgbaston Ashes test and enjoyed interviews with all the stars.
