Also featuring Commonwealth Games England Chair Ian Metcalfe and Commonwealth Games CEO Ian Reid.Tuesday, July 6th, 2021. 12.30-15.30. at the 501 Club, Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Edgbaston Rd, Birmingham B5 7QU.
With just one year to go before the Commonwealth Games comes to Birmingham, what better way to mark the occasion than with our second Sporting Club lunch at Edgbaston dedicated to all things Commonwealth Games.
Our special lunch star is one of Britain’s greatest athletes, a heptathlete extraordinaire and a double world silver medallist, double Commonwealth champion and, of course, with the Tokyo Olympics just a fortnight after this lunch, an Olympic champion as well.
Denise Lewis, OBE, struck gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, as well as the 1994 and 1998 Commonwealth Games in Victoria and Kuala Lumpur. A former Birchfield Harrier, born in West Bromwich, she is one of the most successful sports stars from the West Midlands and is now a popular BBC Sport pundit.
As always at our lunches, there will be photos for our attendees with our star, printed and framed on the day, a three course meal and a 40 minute “in conversation” with Denise.
However, as an extra ingredient, we will also stage a panel discussion with Games CEO Ian Reid and Games England Chair Ian Metcalfe, to talk about all things Commonwealth Games.
Drinks will also take place both before and after in the Club’s own lounge.
We will be fundraising for Get Ahead
