There was barely a dry eye in the house at our City Club last night after we screened a private showing of the remarkable docu-film “Maiden,” in front of members and the star of the show, Tracy Edwards. The celebrated round the world yachtswoman was the subject of this award-winning movie 30 years after she skippered an all-female crew in the Whitbread Round the World Race where they came up against not everything the Southern Ocean could throw at them, but also rank misogyny in their sport. After the film Tracy then treated us all to a question and answer session before further drinks and food was enjoyed by all. We also raised much-needed funds for the Maiden Factor Foundation.
